Moving home can
be a stressful time, so it is better to prepare well
in advance. As experienced movers, we have listed
tips to help make your move a little less painful.
Try to avoid
moving on a Friday. Friday is the busiest
day in the industry and any hold up with transferral
of keys and/or funds could result in your move being
postponed or cancelled. Moving out on a Thursday,
going into storage and moving into your new home on
the Saturday or Monday can take a lot of stress out
of the move.
Record meter
readings and notify suppliers. Make a note
of all telephone numbers before your moving day. You
don't want to be searching for numbers on utilty bills,
in boxes you've already packed.
Pack essentials
last. Keep a list of all the things you will
need to use during your moving day. These should include
a telephone directory, kettle, cups etc and mobile
phone charger. These should be packed and loaded last,
to be unloaded and unpacked first, (or take them in
the car).
Clearly
label boxes. If you have fragile items packed
in boxes, clearly mark them as fragile. Though removals
companies will be careful with all your goods, items
marked Fragile will get extra care.
Make sure
there is parking space for the van. Notify
your neighbours in advance that the space is needed
outside your house for a removals van. If required,
contact the local police about placing traffic cones
outside your home.
These few steps
can eleviate much of the stress of moving home and
help make your first day in your new home a more relaxed
experience.
