Byker is an area in the East of Newcastle upon
Tyne, seperated from the city centre by the Ouseburn Valley. Byker
was originally populated by the workforce of the thriving heavy
industries of Newcastle, including the ship building industry.
The population was later relocated while the
Byker Wall was constructed and returned after its completion.
